Registered Nurse - First Assist travel assignment in San Luis Obispo, California. Start date October 5, 2026. Estimated duration 13 weeks. Weekly pay range $3,047–$3,161. Responsibilities
- Provide professional perioperative nursing care, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care before, during, and after surgery.
- Perform the RN First Assistant (RNFA) role under the direction of the surgeon, assisting with perioperative patient care and leadership in the operating room.
- Maintain sterile technique, manage instrument counts, and ensure patient safety, privacy, and comfort throughout the surgical experience.
- Document perioperative care clearly and concisely; deliver accurate handoffs and contribute to post-operative care planning.
- Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, and other team members; participate in on-call rotation and ensure readiness for spine, orthopedics, and robot-assisted procedures.

Requirements
- Current RN license in the state of practice (California)
- Completion of an approved didactic RNFA course or credentialed RNFA program
- Minimum 3 years scrub and circulator experience in an acute care facility
- Minimum 2 years RNFA experience; willingness to function in the RNFA role
- ACLS and BLS certifications required; PALS preferred; CNOR preferred
- Epic experience; current professional liability insurance
