Network Cabling Technician

Responsibilities Provide installation, maintenance and troubleshooting support of voice, video, and/or data communications networks. Design, install, test, and configure telecommunications distribution systems, including internal cabling, copper and fiber wiring, grounding systems, fiber inner ducts, fiber systems, and Protected Distribution Systems. Annotate any changes to plant cabling in the appropriate infrastructure diagrams after installation. Monitor and respond to hardware and software problems using a variety of testing tools and techniques. Install and configure network hardware and software. Provide network troubleshooting and support. Maintain current knowledge of relevant technology assigned. Participate in special projects as required. Support information systems including JWICS, NIPRNet, SIPRNet, NSANet, and Tier networks. Support secure and non-secure voice systems: VoIP, TDM, SIP, H.323, encryption devices, signaling parameters, conference and trunk interfaces. Support secure and non-secure data systems: IP equipment, Network Management, Switching, ISDN, Channel Service Units, Digital Service Units, cryptographic equipment, patch facilities. Maintain secure and non-secure transmission systems: fiber optic media, media converters, copper media, cryptographic equipment. Install, configure, and sustain VTC, Conference Room, and Public Address Systems. Provide telecommunications construction support: design support, establishing communication rooms, renovating distribution support, modifying secure facilities per DIA and DoW directives, conforming to TIA, ITIL, BICSI, NEC, ISO 9000. Diagnose network component and configuration issues, recommend and implement fixes to restore full operability. Analyze and resolve matters according to priorities and periods defined in service level agreements. Escalate problems when required and utilize Government priority matrix for response. Qualifications Education: High School Diploma or GED. Experience: 3+ years related experience in network cabling, telecommunications, or related technical field. Security Clearance: Current Top Secret/SCI clearance; ability to obtain Top Secret/SCI. Certifications: CompTIA Security+ (required). Job Details Location: USA, Texas, San Antonio (additional locations available). Contract: Temporary position until October 2026. Schedule: 40 hours per week; travel required less than 10%. Compensation: Hourly rate $26.83 – $29.90 (subject to experience, location, and contract).
