Assistant Nurse Manager: D7: Pediatrics

Assistant Nurse Manager – Evening Shift Responsible for the delivery of patient care within the defined patient care area on the assigned primary shift of work. Contributes to goal setting, defines opportunities, mentors staff, and ensures high quality, compassionate care to patients, families, peers, and physicians. Provides leadership for direct patient care by specialty nursing unit staff and collaborates with other service and departmental leaders to achieve short‑and long‑term goals. Key Responsibilities Provide leadership and direction to unit‑based staff during the assigned primary shift. Ensure consistent delivery of competent and compassionate patient care to patients, family, and external customers. Develop, implement, and evaluate policies, programs, and services in alignment with the hospital’s mission and unit vision. Collaborate with service and department leaders toward attainment of goals and objectives. Communicate effectively at all levels and create a collegial, collaborative environment. Coach and mentor staff, articulate clear expectations, and hold them accountable for decisions. Utilize problem‑solving and decision‑making skills to identify problems, collect data, and draw valid conclusions. Qualifications Baccalaureate in nursing degree required. Current New York State Registered Nurse registration or eligibility for licensure. Management experience preferred. Excellent communication skills at all organizational levels. Strong interpersonal skills, teamwork orientation, and customer‑centric mindset. Ability to improve job performance through continuing education. Physical Demands The duties require standing, walking, using hands to probe, handle or feel objects, reach with hands and arms, and speaking and hearing frequently. Occasionally the employee is required to sit, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Vision abilities required include close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Work Environment The work environment is typically moderate in noise level and may expose the employee to infectious materials and chemicals. The employee must be physically on‑site most of the time, as the role cannot be performed remotely.
