Operations Engineer Chief, Class 1 - McKee Preschool Des Moines Public School District, Custodial Department. Location: McKee Preschool, Des Moines, Iowa. Position Type: Full-time, Non‑Exempt, 8‑hour day, 260 days/year. Responsibilities Direct custodial staff and ensure performance of cleaning assignments, building maintenance, and safety requirements. Coordinate staff schedules. Maintain inventories and supplies. Conduct building safety inspections. Provide maintenance and repair to equipment and building facilities. Perform custodial duties as assigned. Assist with preventive maintenance objectives. Assist in annual performance evaluation of subordinate employees. Communicate with operations staff to ensure heating, ventilation, and maintenance during day/night activities. Provide leadership to secure facility each night and prevent loss or damage to property or equipment. Additional Essential Functions Attend work on a prompt and regular basis. Maintain confidentiality. Maintain satisfactory and harmonious working relationships with the public, students, and other employees. Assist with other duties as may be assigned. Qualifications Two years of custodial experience. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools. Knowledge of good housekeeping practices and cleaning equipment. Knowledge of broiler room/geothermal system operations and related equipment. Professional appearance and demeanor. Good judgment and ability to promote a spirit of cooperation with others. Full‑time employee with continuous employment for 12 months prior to posting. No more than 10 days of family/personal sick leave in the previous 12 months. No authorized unpaid leave of absence recorded off the record. No authorized FMLA leave (paid or unpaid) recorded off the record. No authorized workers’ compensation (paid or unpaid) recorded off the record. No "no call/no show" incidents in the previous 12 months. No unauthorized time in the previous 12 months. Active paid status at the beginning of the posting. Recent evaluation that meets or exceeds the required standard. No formal discipline in the previous 12 months. Citizenship, residency, or work visa required. Benefits and Salary Salary: $38,584 to $44,928 per hour. All candidates offered a position will be required to pass a criminal background check and a child and adult abuse registry check.
