Communications Director - School of Medicine

Develop, execute and optimize internal communications that strengthen engagement, transparency, alignment and trust across the academic enterprise Oversee a high-performing communications team and advise senior leadership Design and implement an internal communications strategy aligned with Emory School of Medicine priorities Integrate communication priorities across the dean's office and system-wide functions Draft and coordinate high-impact communications from the dean and executive team, including messages, talking points and speeches Lead annual planning and develop an editorial calendar supporting the dean's office vision and priorities Define and implement regular communications from the School of Medicine dean and leadership team Partner with school-wide functions to develop strategies supporting strategic and operational goals Manage communications platforms, vehicles and editorial calendars Develop metrics and reporting tools to evaluate communication effectiveness Provide regular reporting to the Executive Administrator for Communications and other leaders Oversee complex communication projects from concept through execution Connect the dean's office and departments to unify messaging and ensure strategic alignment Collaborate with internal communications teams at Emory Healthcare, Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, Georgia Tech and Grady Memorial Hospital Collaborate with academic offices to leverage integrated storytelling and promote faculty thought leadership and accomplishments Support internal crisis and urgent communications with leadership, general counsel, reputation management and media relations Lead emergency preparedness communications efforts Perform related responsibilities as required Requirements A bachelor's degree in journalism, communications or related field Eight years of related experience, including experience in a communications or public relations position Experience in leading and managing a high performing team Demonstrated success in advising and collaborating with senior leaders Strong judgment, discretion and agility in navigating fast-paced environments Strong storytelling skills Deep change management expertise Commitment to values-driven communication Core Competencies Demonstrates expertise in developing and executing internal communications strategies that enhance engagement and alignment within academic institutions.
