Mail Services Assistant (Office Assistant I)

. This position works under general supervision and performs a wide variety of general clerical and operational duties supporting the City’s Digital Publishing office and operations. This is a temporary part-time “extra help" at-will position. Extra help positions are subject to budget availability and agency needs. Key Responsibilities Include: Pick up mail from the U.S. Post Office and City offices at both on-site and off-site locations. Sort and distribute incoming and outgoing U.S. and interdepartmental mail according to the established mail schedule. Meters all outgoing U.S. mail with appropriate postage and delivers it to the U.S. Post Office. Operate Mail Service equipment such as a digital postage meter and scale. Input postage charges into Mail Services database, checking for accuracy. Lift medium to heavy packages (may be up to 50 pounds). Maintain appropriate records and perform related duties as assigned. Provide support to Digital Publishing as needed, such as printing and finishing processes, equipment operation, and other daily printing production tasks. Minimum Qualifications –

Required A combination of education, training and experience equivalent to completion of the high school supplemented by additional clerical and computer coursework, keyboarding abilities sufficient to perform the job, and six months of clerical experience are required. License

: Depending on assignment, possession of a valid California Class C driver's license is required.
