Scope of Job The College of Engineering and Computer Science at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) invites applications for two tenure-track faculty positions in the Department of Computer Science to begin in the fall of 2026. The department offers ABET‑accredited Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees and has launched a PhD program in Fall 2024. Faculty members conduct research spanning theoretical foundations, bioinformatics, machine learning, robotics, data mining, and applications of Computer Science, and they teach undergraduate and graduate courses. Responsibilities • Teach undergraduate/graduate computer science courses;

• Establish and sustain an outstanding, funded research program at UTRGV;
• Collaborate with colleagues across the university to advance research and teaching;
• Contribute to departmental service and community engagement initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications Applicants must have an earned doctorate degree in Computer Science or a related field from an accredited university, or be expected to complete all degree requirements by September 1 , 2026. Discipline Specific Required Qualifications Applicants must have a strong publication record and demonstrate skills in communication and collaboration. Preferred Qualifications The ideal candidate possesses the following qualities and attributes: Experience developing and teaching courses integrating machine learning, artificial intelligence, data science, or intelligent engineering systems; Ability to lead and propose new research projects and secure external funding from agencies such as NSF, DoD, DOE, DARPA, NIH, and NASA; Strong communication skills and teamwork; Demonstrated ability to collaborate with schools, community colleges, government agencies, and industry to create an ecosystem that promotes economic prosperity in the Rio Grande Valley.
