This specialized unit performs a wide range of complex procedures, including kidney and uterine transplants, gender-affirming surgeries, hysterectomies, pelvic organ prolapse repairs, prostate cancer surgeries, and advanced robotic-assisted procedures.As a Registered Nurse on this team, you will play a vital role in ensuring patients are safely prepared, supported, and comfortable throughout every stage of their surgical journey—from preoperative care through recovery. And if you're relocating to join us, you could be eligible for relocation assistance.Our Center for Workplace Violence Prevention and Caregiver Well-Being sets caregiver safety as a priority, identifying, reporting and responding to incidents and providing safety resources.A caregiver in this position works days + on- call requirements from 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. or 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. The call window is 1 hour. Orientation is 6 months long Monday – Friday from 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. with no weekends or holidays during orientation. Shifts are assigned after orientation.A caregiver who excels in this role will:Deliver professional nursing care in an operative setting to adult and pediatric patients undergoing surgical or other invasive procedures.Perform scrub functions, such as selecting and handling instruments and supplies.Perform circulating functions, such as monitoring, recording and communicating patient condition and managing the overall nursing care of patients before, during and after the procedure.Assist the operating physician with surgical tasks, such as hemostasis, suturing, wound exposure and patient positioning.Prepare the Operating Room, surgical instruments and surgical equipment for use.Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (ADN or BSN program)Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)Licensed military RN experience will be consideredBasic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red CrossAdvanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within 6 months of hireOne year RN experience required or completion of Cleveland Clinic perioperative residency program.Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN)Physical Requirements:Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 25 pounds and ability to push, pull, and navigate supply carts weighing > than 75 pounds periodically.Personal Protective Equipment:Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.The policy of Cleveland Clinic Health System and its system hospitals (Cleveland Clinic Health System) is to provide equal opportunity to all of our caregivers and applicants for employment in our drug free environment.
