Work Environment\nThis role is conducted entirely remotely, allowing for flexible scheduling while maintaining accountability in patient care. You will utilize telehealth platforms to engage with patients, ensuring a virtual presence that promotes therapeutic rapport and effective communication. The ability to choose your own hours, between Monday and Friday—with the possibility for weekend shifts when necessary—provides a level of work-life balance that many seek.
Key Responsibilities\n- \n
- Conduct thorough mental health evaluations, crisis interventions, and assessments, documenting patient interactions meticulously. \n
- Determine the most appropriate mental health care disposition for patients, coordinating with various healthcare institutions as needed. \n
- Complete necessary statistical reports to maintain compliance and uphold the quality of care. \n
- Collaborate with the Department of Correction and other relevant agencies to ensure proper access to treatment and housing for patients. \n
- Facilitate group treatment sessions, particularly on mental health observation units, ensuring engagement and therapeutic support. \n
- Participate in regular clinical supervision, engaging with the Clinical Supervisor at least weekly to discuss cases and improve practice. \n
- Engage in mental health and medical rounds as assigned, bringing insights and updates to multidisciplinary teams. \n
- Take part in case conferences, contributing to treatment planning for both current patients and those being considered for service. \n
- Occasionally conduct psychological testing to support diagnostic processes as required. \n
- Supervise social work interns or volunteers, providing mentorship and guidance in professional development activities. \n
In your role as a Mental Health Counselor, you will serve a diverse client population, including individuals experiencing a wide range of mental health challenges. From anxiety and depression to trauma and substance use disorders, your expertise will help support clients at various stages of their mental health journey. As you engage with patients through telehealth, you will leverage your skills to create a secure and understanding environment conducive to effective therapy.

- A Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related field is essential; a Master’s degree is preferred. \n
- Must possess or be on track to obtain appropriate state licensure, including but not limited to Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). \n
- Proven experience in delivering mental health services, either through direct practice or relevant internships. \n

- Experience in telehealth service delivery is highly desirable, demonstrating proficiency in using telecommunication tools for counseling. \n
- Prior involvement with diverse patient populations and an understanding of culturally competent care principles is a plus. \n
- Familiarity with mental health documentation standards and statistical reporting for compliance and quality control. \n
This position offers an annual salary ranging from USD 115,000 to 130,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Unity Point Mental Health Center provides a comprehensive benefits package that includes:
