About the Position

Job Title: Agency Staff Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Clinic/Ambulatory Duration: 14 weeks Shift: 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM Hours per Shift: 7.5 Experience: Two (2) years of Med/Surg or clinic experience is required. License: State RN License Certifications: AHA BLS Must-Have: - Pediatric nursing assessment - Pediatric medication administration - Immunization administration - Triage skills - Pediatric or ambulatory care nursing experience Description: This position is for the Ambulatory Care Pediatric Clinic. The Agency Staff Nurse will provide safe, compassionate, and age-appropriate nursing care to pediatric patients in the clinic. Responsibilities will include patient assessment and triage, medication administration, immunizations, patient and family education, care coordination, documentation, and assisting providers with clinic procedures. The nurse will monitor patients for changes in condition and respond appropriately to urgent needs. Maintaining infection prevention and safety standards is essential. The nurse will support efficient clinic operations and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team. Adherence to hospital policies, regulatory requirements, and standards of pediatric nursing practice is expected. Required Skills & Experience: - Ability to assess infants, children, and adolescents and recognize changes in condition. - Knowledge of weight-based medication dosing and safe medication administration. - Competency in administering routine childhood and adolescent vaccines and monitoring for adverse reactions. - Ability to prioritize pediatric patients based on presenting symptoms and acuity. - Ability to communicate health information clearly to children and caregivers. - Ability to recognize changes in a child’s condition and escalate concerns appropriately. - Ability to establish rapport with pediatric patients and families and collaborate effectively with providers and the interdisciplinary team. - Accurate and timely documentation of assessments, interventions, medications, and patient education. - Knowledge of appropriate infection-control practices and pediatric patient-safety standards. - Ability to recognize and respond appropriately to pediatric emergencies within the ambulatory setting. - Ability to coordinate follow-up care, referrals, diagnostic testing, and communication with other healthcare services. - Ability to function effectively in a busy ambulatory environment and adjust to changing patient volumes and priorities. Preferred Skills & Experience: - Previous pediatric or ambulatory care nursing experience. - Experience working with medically complex pediatric patients. - BLS/PALS certification or current pediatric emergency-response competency. - Experience with immunization clinics and pediatric preventive care. - Familiarity with an electronic health record (EHR) and ambulatory clinic workflows.
