Job Type Full‑time & Part‑time: Weekday (Evenings/Overnights), Weekend (Day/Evenings/Overnights) Salary & Benefits $18.50 to $20.00 hourly rate. Job Description The Direct Support Professional role is a Non‑Exempt position requiring the ability to implement training programs and maintain a safe environment for adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD) to increase their independence and community integration. All tasks must be carried out humanely and competently. The role is not tied to one location; the agency reserves the right to change the employee’s work location at its discretion. Responsibilities Read, understand, and comply with all governing documents, including contracts, agency policies, procedures, State or Federal standards, and program manuals. Ensure compliance with the agency’s Operations and Personnel Manuals and the Division of Developmental Disabilities Standards Manual. Complete and submit all required reports, forms, and documentation competently and on time. Apply basic developmental disability and learning style knowledge to motivate clients with behavioral or medical challenges. Complete all CDS trainings and refreshers as directed. Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and other relevant meetings. Assist clients with goal outcomes established on the Individual Service Plan (ISP). Interpret the ISP and work within the documented expectations. Provide consistent, accurate information to direct supervisors. Implement behavior management strategies to promote positive behaviors and reduce challenging behaviors according to established plans. Train and supervise clients in all aspects of community living. Serve as a positive role model for clients and coworkers. Provide safe transportation in agency vehicles as needed. Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when communicating with family members, group home staff, support coordinators, and outside agencies. Maintain active, positive engagement with clients at all times. Always ensure client safety and well‑being. Provide direct care and support to individuals with disabilities or special needs. Accompany and support clients during medical appointments, ensuring relevant information is conveyed accurately to healthcare professionals and the Residential Coordinator or Medical Compliance Officer. Follow medication policies and procedures in monitoring and administering client medications; complete a Medication Error Report when needed. Keep the home, grounds, yard, and van clean, safe, and sanitary. Prepare meals based on individual dietary plans, client input, and the monthly menu. Execute the Recreation Calendar per client input and the planned monthly calendar. Document daily logs, communication logs, and behavior reports accurately. Maintain line of sight for the individuals being supported and complete reports accordingly. Clean the home thoroughly during any shift worked. Preserve client dignity at all times. Report emergencies or unusual incidents to direct supervisor promptly. Cooperate with the licensee and Department staff during inspections, inquiries, or investigations. Requirements Valid New Jersey Driver’s License High School Diploma or Equivalency Minimum 21 years of age Experience working with developmentally/intellectually disabled individuals American Red Cross CPR & First Aid certification (plus) #J-18808-Ljbffr Hudson Milestones
