Banquet Cook

Banquet Cook (Full-Time) We are looking for a Banquet Cook to join our Banquets Department at Marriott Syracuse Downtown. The role involves organizing, preparing, and cooking all food items for banquets and restaurant meals, and assisting the chef in training and supporting kitchen staff. Inspect, select, and use food items of the highest quality in the preparation of all menu items. Check pars for shift use, determine necessary preparation, freezer pull, and line set up; note any items out of stock or shortages; keep buffet items stocked. Prepare food for banquets following specifications of banquet event orders. Work banquet food stations as scheduled by the chef. Operate, maintain, and properly clean deep fryer, broiler, stove, steamer, food processor, mixer, slicer, oven steam table, tilt kettle, waffle iron, and flat top grill. Perform any other job‑related duties as assigned. Maintain a professional appearance and manner at all times; communicate well with guests; help co‑workers and be a team player. Requirements Flexible availability is required as the Banquet Cook & team are driven by events. Experience cooking in large‑scale kitchens and/or for catering, events, and/or banquets is required. SafeServ & Food Handling training required & provided at no cost if you do not have a valid certificate. Experience 2–5 years of experience working as a cook/chef in a banquet, catering, or restaurant setting required.
