Registered Nurse Surgical Intermediate Full Time Days

Salary range: $34.50 - $55.20 per hour. Placement depends on work experience, internal equity, and collective bargaining agreements for union positions. Unit Description Full time, 7 am–7:30 pm with rotating weekends on the Surgical Intermediate Care Unit (2A). 26‑bed unit designed to treat adult patients with acute medical, surgical, and cardiac conditions, specializing in complicated surgeries. Patient population includes, but is not limited to, esophagectomies, Whipple procedures, surgical oncology cases, high‑volume liposuction, multi‑level spinal fusions, and vascular cases. The unit also cares for any surgical patient requiring a medication drip not suitable for the medical‑surgical unit. Open to step‑down and overflow patients to enhance hospital throughput. Direct care provided by registered nurses at an ideal ratio of 1:3‑4 patients for step‑down level of care. The Staff Nurse Inpatient reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies and accreditation standards. A clinically competent, registered professional nurse who prescribes, delegates, and coordinates nursing care to acutely ill patients, using the nursing process and maintaining ANA standards. Responsibilities Collect and analyze data, identify expected outcomes, develop and implement individualized plans, coordinate care delivery, and evaluate progress. Direct care and determine appropriate utilization of any assistants involved in direct patient care. Collaborate with patients, families, physicians, and ancillary staff to create documented plans focused on outcomes and decisions. Participate in shared governance, committee work, and unit projects. Evaluate and document patient responses to interventions and individualize the plan of care accordingly. Utilize evidence‑based practice, including research findings, to guide decisions. Qualifications – Required Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Current State of Illinois Registered Professional Nurse. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS). Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to collaborate. Strong analytic abilities. Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) acceptable with commitment to obtain a BSN within three years. Qualifications – Preferred Experience in specific clinical area. Experience in Emergency Room or Pediatric Emergency Room. Trauma Nurse Specialist (TNS). Emergency Communications Registered Nurse. Certified Pediatric Nurse. Certified Emergency Nurse.
