Lab Assistant (Cheese Culture Tech)

Pride Health is seeking a Lab Assistant (Cheese Culture Tech) for one of the largest food and beverage companies in North America. Job Title: Lab Assistant (Cheese Culture Tech) Location: Morton Grove, IL (on-site) Job Type: Contract Length: 10-Months (with potential to extend) Hours: M-F 7:30am – 4:00pm Pay Rate: $20.00 - $22.71 per hour Overview Our client is looking for a Technician that will support all aspects of the Cheese Cultures Manufacturing at the Morton Grove facility. Culture Manufacturing Responsibilities Contamination plating at each step of process (TSA + Sheep blood) Send phage samples to Central LAB Keeping and maintaining records of daily Pre- Op inspections Tools ensemble and sterilization Assemble and sterilize centrifuge bearings and bowls Assemble packaging pumps and sterilize Assemble and sterilize blenders The Technician will also be responsible for Starter Media and/or Milk Sterilization Measuring De-Ionized water volume in flask Weighing of Sodium Citrate Powder Mixing of Sodium Citrate powder and water Milk Preparation Mixing of Milk and Di-Ionized water per formula Cell Paste Transfer to Sterile Buckets Addition of Sterilized Ingredients for Formulation (flask or fermenter) Blending Formulation of Blend Measuring Glycerin volume in Flask or Blend Compressed air testing at filler On Packaging Days Assembly and stamping of white boxes Labeling of Racks Sample collection and QC Testing Boxing of Pouches Fill Liquid nitrogen Tank Fill out packaging record forms Freezing of Boxes Fill out packaging inventory record Qualifications 1-2 years of experience working in a GMP regulated, food environment Must be able to lift 50lbs Ability to work with small groups Benefits Pride Health offers eligible employee’s comprehensive healthcare coverage (medical, dental, and vision plans), supplemental coverage (accident insurance, critical illness insurance and hospital indemnity), a 401(k)-retirement savings, life & disability insurance, an employee assistance program, identity theft protection, legal support, auto and home insurance, pet insurance, and employee discounts with some preferred vendors.
