Shift: Night

Compensation: $47.85 - $71.72 per hour

Position Overview

Our organization is in search of a committed Registered Nurse to join the Oncology Float Pool at our New Brunswick campus. This facility serves as the primary teaching hospital within our health system and is recognized as one of only three Level 1 trauma centers in the state. Renowned for its exceptional clinical quality, we are dedicated to providing outstanding patient care. Our team is focused on ensuring safe, high-quality treatment for all individuals.

Additionally, our hospital has been awarded the Magnet designation six times, highlighting our commitment to nursing excellence. Nurses in the float pool play a crucial role, delivering exceptional care across diverse patient populations, including those in trauma, neurology, cardiology, orthopedics, and oncology. Float pool nurses exhibit expertise, adaptability, resilience, strong communication, interpersonal skills, and teamwork. As we expand our team, we aim to continue providing our units with skilled nursing professionals.

Qualifications
  • Required:
    • Associate's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma
    • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Oncology
  • Preferred:
    • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or completion within 5 years of hire
    • Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) certification is preferred
Certifications and Licenses
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications
  • Active Registered Nurse License in New Jersey
Scheduling Requirements
  • Night shift, 36 hours per week, from 7 PM to 7:30 AM
  • Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend and holiday rotations
Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver nursing care within the framework of the Nurse Practice Act and regulatory standards, while adhering to ethical guidelines as outlined by the ANA code of ethics.
  • Ensure safety in practice, incorporating evidence-based principles and maintaining awareness of personal knowledge and experience levels.
  • Report any identified safety concerns, including hazardous conditions and medical errors.
  • Understand the patient demographics served and supervise the delegation of tasks to appropriate team members, collaborating with other healthcare providers.
  • Set and evaluate priorities consistently, implementing interventions with measurable outcomes aimed at improvement.
  • Act as an individual practitioner and interdisciplinary team manager, utilizing the nursing process to tailor care plans to meet specific patient needs.
