Phlebotomist

Key Responsibilities Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc. Collect and store specimens in accordance with established procedures. Properly explain in a clear but courteous manner the process of venipuncture (blood drawing) and other specimen collection (e.g., urine or fecal) as required. Demonstrate technique(s) using straight needles and/or butterfly needles. Fully understand all of the physician's orders; match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order. Check all test requisitions or computer labels against the script to ensure 100% correctness. Package specimens for transport. Store specimens at the required temperature and place them appropriately. Qualifications A High School Diploma or GED is required. Three years of phlebotomy experience required, inclusive of pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections. Customer service experience in a retail or service environment preferred. Keyboard/data entry experience a must. Duration: 3+ months Pay rate: $28/hour Schedule: Monday- Friday, 6:45am to 8:30pm *The salary is determined by an individual's level of experience, as well as any relevant licenses and certifications they may hold.
