Hadoop / Big Data Developer (with Production Support focus)

Akkodis is seeking a Sr. Hadoop / Big Data Developer (with Production Support focus) for a Contract job with a client in Plano, TX/Charlotte, NC/Kennesaw, GA(Hybrid) . Ideally looking for applicants with a solid background in the financial services industry. Rate Range: $60/hour to $65/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors. Overview We are seeking an experienced Hadoop / Big Data Developer with strong expertise in Linux/Unix, troubleshooting, and data processing frameworks . This role requires a balance of development (50%) and production support (50%) , supporting large-scale data pipelines and ensuring system reliability in a high-volume environment. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines using Hadoop ecosystem tools (Hive, Spark, HDFS, MapReduce) Build scalable data processing solutions for large datasets Optimize data workflows for performance, reliability, and scalability Work on batch and/or streaming data processing Production Support (50%) Provide L2/L3 support for Big Data pipelines and jobs Troubleshoot job failures, performance bottlenecks, and data issues Perform root cause analysis and implement fixes Monitor data workflows and ensure SLA adherence Handle on-call support and critical incident resolution (if required) Use Linux/Unix commands for log analysis, job tracking, and debugging Analyze system logs and identify issues across distributed systems Database & Scripting Write and troubleshoot complex SQL/Hive queries Perform data validation, debugging, and performance tuning Develop scripts using Shell/Python for automation Required Skills Strong experience with Hadoop ecosystem (Hive, Spark, HDFS, MapReduce) Hands‑on experience in Big Data development and support Strong SQL/Hive query writing and troubleshooting Experience in production support (L2/L3) environments Excellent problem‑solving and debugging skills If you are interested in this role, then please click APPLY NOW.
