Labor & Delivery RN Job Requirements

• At least 1 year of recent full-time-equivalent registered nursing experience, including experience within the last 3 years
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in California
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
• High-risk Labor & Delivery or high-risk obstetric nursing experience preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or a related field preferred
• Five or more years of recent Labor & Delivery nursing experience preferred

Labor & Delivery Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to patients throughout labor, delivery, and the postpartum transition
• Assess maternal and fetal conditions, identify changes in patient status, and promptly escalate concerns
• Support the care of high-risk obstetric patients in collaboration with physicians, advanced practice providers, and the interdisciplinary care team
• Administer medications and treatments, monitor patient responses, and maintain accurate clinical documentation
• Assist with emergency interventions and follow established maternal and neonatal safety protocols
• Educate patients and families regarding care plans, procedures, recovery, and newborn-related needs
• Promote effective communication, continuity of care, and a supportive patient experience
