Crisis and Resource Specialist

Please note: Training Hours are Mon-Fri 9am to 5pm paid in our Rockledge office. Employees may be eligible for a hybrid work schedule upon successful completion of training and onboarding.

Required Knowledge and Skills:


211 Brevard provides immediate support and connects people to resources in times of mental health, financial and community crisis, and maintains and shares information about critical needs and services. Services are available 24 hours a day via voice and text through the 211 community helpline and 988 suicide and crisis lifeline. 211 is the access point for the Community Information Hotline in disasters, and a variety of other specialized services.

Primary Responsibilities

• Communicating through phone and text, assist people experiencing mental health, financial or community crisis situations through active listening, crisis intervention, screening, assessment and collaborative problem-solving to connect them to available resources through the development of individualized action plans.
• Provide follow up options to determine outcomes and provide additional resources and supports as needed and available.

Position Qualifications

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or GED

Required Knowledge and Skills

• Ability to pass a level two (2) DCF background screening.
• Professional and compassionate demeanor and ability to provide non-judgmental assistance for a variety of issues.

Additional Knowledge and Skills:

• Prior related social services experience
• Fluency in English and Spanish
• College degree
• Ability to communicate clearly on the phone, in writing and in person
• Ability to read written material and computer screens
• Ability to spend multiple hours on the telephone and computer
• Ability to enter data into a computerized record

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift 25 pounds as required

Work Schedule and Location

Training and initial work will be at the 211 Brevard offices. Remote and hybrid work assignments may be considered after successful completion of the probationary period, demonstrated adherence to performance standards and recommendation of supervisor, consistent with the organization's remote work policy.

Disaster Response

211 Brevard serves as source of community information in disaster situations and all employees may be expected to work shifts prior to, during and/or following a community disaster.
