Job Title Patient Access Associate Location & Schedule Renton, WA • Clinic Float Pool • Days shift • Full Time • 1 FTE Job Overview The Patient Access Associate schedules hospital and clinic services using inbound/outbound call handling, MyChart requests, and in‑person appointments. Responsibilities include pre‑registration, insurance verification, registration, check‑in, estimates, payment collections, check‑out, and coordination of various resources to ensure timely patient throughput. Key Responsibilities Inbound and outbound scheduling for hospital and clinic services. Pre‑registration, insurance verification, and registration using EPIC. Confirm referrals, assess required pre‑requisites (labs, films, history), and coordinate additional resources. Ensure insurance coverage and communicate network status to patients. Patient appointment check‑in: verify financial clearance, update information, and assist patients. Generate estimates and apply Point of Service collections guidelines. Process payments, document in HIS, and provide receipts. Complete MyChart scheduling requests. Maintain accurate patient and referral work‑queues, resolve errors, and scan documentation. Monitor office supplies, equipment, and ordering. Deliver excellent customer service, provide first‑call resolution, and de‑escalate upset patients. Meet productivity and key performance indicators (registration quality, productivity, collections). Qualifications & Experience High School Diploma or equivalent (GED). Minimum 1 year front‑office experience in a physician office or hospital access department. Proficiency in multi‑line phone systems, EPIC, and other electronic medical record systems. Keyboarding speed of 35 wpm or greater. Computer proficiency in a Windows‑based environment. Strong verbal, written, and listening communication skills. Excellent customer service skills. Knowledge of medical terminology, abbreviations, and basic insurance concepts. Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work effectively in a fast‑paced environment. Physical & Work Conditions Stand or sit for extended periods; repetitive keyboarding. Lift supplies up to 10 lbs. Assist patients in wheelchairs from admitting to patient‑care areas. Operate scanners and electronic faxing equipment. Performance Expectations Adhere to departmental protocols, policies, and guidelines. Maintain accurate and complete patient records. Meet or exceed registration quality, productivity, and collections goals. Provide first‑call resolution and de‑escalate patient concerns.
