LOCUM Cardiothoracic Surgery NP/PA Mishawaka, Indiana OR First Assist Vein Harvesting Day + Call Schedule 365 Healthcare is seeking an experienced Cardiothoracic Surgery NP or PA for a locum opportunity in Mishawaka, Indiana. This assignment provides first assist surgical support, inpatient rounding, and call coverage within a collaborative cardiothoracic surgery team. This is a procedure-focused role with a strong emphasis on OR coverage and vein harvesting expertise . Schedule Model • Monday Friday: 7:00 AM 4:00 PM • Night call: 4:00 PM 7:00 AM • Weekend call: 24-hour coverage (7:00 AM 7:00 AM) Coverage Needed • Start ASAP • Ongoing coverage • Full-time availability preferred Practice Overview • Cardiothoracic surgery program • Combination of OR and inpatient responsibilities • Average daily volume: • 10 outpatient • 5 8 inpatient • EMR: Epic Clinical Scope • First assist in cardiothoracic surgical procedures • Endoscopic vein/artery harvesting (Maquet system required) • Inpatient rounding and post-operative management • OR call coverage with callback as needed Clinical Responsibilities • Assist in cardiothoracic surgical procedures • Perform vein and artery harvesting • Conduct pre-operative assessments and post-operative care • Manage chest tubes, pacing wires, and wound care • Perform suture and staple removal • Order and interpret diagnostic tests • Develop and manage patient care plans • Collaborate with surgeons, nursing, and multidisciplinary teams • Respond to emergencies using ACLS protocols Practice Environment • OR-focused role with consistent surgical volume • Collaborative cardiothoracic surgery team • Balanced schedule between OR and inpatient care • High-acuity surgical environment Qualifications • NP or PA certification (AANP or NCCPA) • Active Indiana license (in hand) • Cardiothoracic surgery experience required • Experience with Maquet vein harvesting • First assist experience required • BLS/ACLS proficiency • Clean malpractice and background history • NPDB Self-Query report required • Local candidates preferred Why Partner with 365 Healthcare • Dedicated specialty-specific consultants • 24/7 award-winning service • NALTO Member • Competitive compensation • A-rated malpractice coverage • Paid travel and housing Take the Next Step Cardiothoracic NP/PA locum opportunities with OR first assist and specialized surgical experience are highly sought after.
