Job Position Title Assistant Coach Club Beaverton Area Aquatic Club - BAAC Location Beaverton, Oregon The Beaverton Area Aquatic Club is a year‑round USA Swimming competitive swim team located at the Tualatin Hill Park and Recreation District pools. BAAC offers high‑quality professional coaching for athletes of all ages. We have approximately 100+ athletes who train with our team. BAAC has been a non‑profit, board‑governed, coach‑led team‑building champion since October 2020. Position Overview We are seeking a full‑time coach who will support our team’s culture and partner with our coaching staff in executing the BAAC mission and vision. List of at least three current references with contact information. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Collaborate with the Head Coach on all aspects of aquatic operations. Direct the Age Group programs. Collaborate with the coaching staff to plan the seasonal and annual competition schedule, write workouts, communicate with parents, and manage swim meet entries. Represent the team at swim meets and OSI meetings. Promote and encourage a positive team culture while serving as a coach for the entire competitive team. Encourage and develop self‑motivation among swimmers of all abilities; challenge and support athletes to maximize their potential and contributions to the team. Serve in a substitute role assigned to cover other practice groups when the Head Coach is absent. Collaborate with the Head Coach to maintain clear, consistent communication among coaches, parents, and swimmers; address concerns, resolve conflicts, and maintain clear communication regarding team direction, plans, and vision. Manage the day‑to‑day activities of the Age Group program. Collaborate with the coaching staff on the day‑to‑day activities of all squads and manage them as needed to support the other coaches. Maintain all CPR/First Aid certifications and USA/OSI certifications. All certifications must be current and in good standing. Ensure the physical and social safety and welfare of athletes. Ensure athletes and parents adhere to our codes of conduct. Ensure swim meet entries are submitted prior to deadlines; review entries with the Head Coach; email families the review; assist in setting up for all home meets; arrive 15-30 minutes early; observe races and give feedback; ensure meeting areas are cleaned and left as found. Maintain swimming pool quality standards that meet government and health requirements; open and close the facility as scheduled; keep the pool area clean and free from hazards. Always supervise swimmers while in and around the pool area; treat safety as the first priority; adhere to USA Swimming Safe Sport guidelines; ensure all coaches, guest coaches, and trainers complete background checks and are Safe Sport certified; brief swimmers on safety rules before games, drills, or use of new equipment; prevent running on the pool deck or improper use of equipment. Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Experience with Commit or comparable software and meet entries. Physiology and/or exercise training experience. Strong technical knowledge of swimming. Skill in using personal computers and related software applications. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse staff, athletes, and board members. Ability to develop and maintain record‑keeping systems and procedures. Education and/or Experience Must have current USA Swimming Coaching Certification and three to four years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. CPR, First Aid, and U.S. Coaching certification are required. Athletic experience in swimming and previous coaching experience are preferred.
