FAMILY MEDICINE RESIDENCY - CORE FACULTY

Overview

Core Faculty will join an innovative family residency program in collaboration with the Program Director (PD) and other faculty members. You will be part of creating and shaping the family residency program. Under the direction of the PD for the Family Medicine Residency Program, core faculty members may serve as clinical leaders and resident mentors, assuring the delivery of high‑quality teaching and patient care as part of a robust accredited residency program. Core faculty members will dedicate time to residency training, ensuring that all ACGME requirements are met while providing excellent clinical care.
Core faculty members must practice full spectrum family medicine including pediatrics, women’s health, and inpatient. Family Medicine Obstetrics is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Patient Care
  • Maintain board certification through regular CME activities and board examinations.
  • Maintain a personal panel of patients and provide supervision to residents in the outpatient and inpatient settings.
  • Provide care to newborns, children, women, and adults in all settings.
  • Be proficient in common procedures within the scope of Family Medicine.
  • Participate in night call activities and inpatient rounds on patients of all ages.
  • Participate in weekend call activities for the practice and residency.
  • Use resources (referrals, testing) and treatment appropriate to practice philosophy.
  • Engage in all practice policies/procedures, including QA projects.
  • Maintain hospital privileges.
• Resident Education
  • Serve as a role model by precepting and seeing patients of all ages in the Family Medicine Clinic.
  • Serve as attending physician on Family Medicine Hospital rounds and dedicate appropriate time and effort to teaching in the hospital setting.
  • Attend conferences regularly and present lectures throughout the year.
  • Participate in developing and assessing required and elective curriculum design.
  • Serve as an advisor to assigned residents, ensuring evaluations and problem solving as per resident policy.
  • Complete required evaluations of residents in office and hospital settings.
  • Assist with recruiting, interviewing, selection, and ranking of prospective residents during recruitment season.
  • Participate in Scholarly Activity projects with residents.
  • Maintain appropriate level of Scholarly Activities consistent with RC in Family Medicine requirements.
• Other Duties
  • Involvement in the community.
  • Serving on other committees or representing the program in national, state, and local organizations as required by the program director.

Qualifications

• AOA or ABMS board certification in Family Medicine.
• Family Medicine Obstetrics is highly preferred.
• Current or ability to obtain medical licensure in the state of Delaware and appropriate medical staff appointment.
• Documented clinical, educational, and administrative experience.
