General Statement of the Job & Essential Functions GENERAL STAEMENT OF JOB Under direct supervision, this position performs routine semi-skilled work in the maintenance and repair of city buildings and facilities. Position provides works as a helper and provides assistance to higher level trades workers in more complex electrical repair and installation activities. Reports to Senior Electrician.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Performs semi-skilled electrical work maintaining, repairing and ensuring the working condition of electrical systems in city buildings and facilities; uses a variety of tools and equipment to include voltmeter, ohmmeter, ammeter, genie boom, drills, and saws and hand tools. Prepares site for repair and/or installation work; repairs and installs new parts and systems for lights, electrical receptacles, electrical panels and wiring, ballasts, and building electrical systems; removes or repairs damaged parts. Loads and unloads electrical supplies and equipment on trucks; transports equipment, supplies and materials to other facilities as needed; cleans work area; assists general maintenance crew with moving furniture, and assists with installation of phone cable and computer wires.
Performs other related work as required. Individual assignments will be determined by supervisor based on current workload and department needs. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities PERFORMANCE INDICATORS

Education, Experience & Special Requirements
EDUCATION & EXPEREINCE High school diploma or the equivalent with additional training in the maintenance and repair of electrical systems, and 1 - 2 years of experience performing electrical repairs and maintenance; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS A valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. An acceptable general background check to include a local and state criminal history check. Must be able to complete the required National Incident Management System (NIMS) Incident Command System Certifications within one (1) year of employment. This job is considered essential personnel and will require attendance and work during and following natural disasters and/or emergency situations.
