Patient Services Specialist

Job Description Summary Will handle most clerical duties associated with a medical clinic. The job of Patient Services Specialist (PSS) is divided into “stations.” Each station has a distinct set of job duties, and each PSS is required to assist coworkers in performing all PSS duties at all times. All employees hired for the PSS position will be expected to learn and perform all duties of all front‑office stations. Due to the different office layouts, the person doing the named station may not perform some of the listed job duties. Key Responsibilities Provide clerical support by answering phones, scheduling appointments, managing patient records, and assisting with insurance verification. Coordinate with other departments to ensure timely patient care and maintain a professional, welcoming environment at all times. Position Qualifications / Requirements Education: High School Diploma / GED required. Previous Experience: Experience in the healthcare field is highly preferred. Attention to Detail: Strong ability to multitask. Interpersonal Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills. Communication Skills: Strong communication skills with a wide variety of personalities. Core Capabilities Analysis & Critical Thinking: Critical thinking skills including solid problem solving, analysis, decision‑making, planning, time management and organizational skills; must be detail‑oriented with independent judgment. Interpersonal Effectiveness: Developed interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, diplomacy, tact, conflict management, delegation skills, diversity awareness, and ability to work with sensitive material. Communication Skills: Good command of the English language. Second language is an asset but not required. Customer Service & Organizational Awareness: Strong customer focus; engages a culture of quality, performance effectiveness, and operational excellence through best practices, collaboration, and positive relationships. Self‑Management: Effectively manages own time, conflicting priorities, stress, and professional development; self‑motivated and self‑starter capable of working with limited supervision. Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) required. Certifications / Licenses Valid state Driver’s License required for travel to satellite offices and offsite meetings. Compliance with company Driver Safety Operations and Motor Vehicle Records Check Policy is required. Travel 26–50% travel required; not remote. Work Hours Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Screenings and Vaccinations All new hires must undergo background, drug, and nicotine screening. FCS requires all new employees to receive vaccinations, including the influenza vaccine, barring an approved exemption. FCS is a drug‑free workplace; drug/nicotine testing is required. Medical marijuana cards are not recognized.
