Overview of the Payroll Specialist Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to oversee accurate and timely payroll processing while supporting payroll compliance and employee inquiries. This is an excellent opportunity for a payroll professional looking to join a stable organization with a collaborative team environment.

Key Responsibilities for the Payroll Specialist

• Process weekly, biweekly, or semi-monthly payroll accurately and on time
• Process prevailing wage payroll and ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and contract requirements
• Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
• Process new hires, terminations, wage changes, and employee deductions
• Review and reconcile payroll reports, timecards, certified payroll records, and benefit deductions
• Coordinate payroll-related tax filings and year-end reporting, including W-2s
• Respond to employee payroll questions and resolve discrepancies
• Support benefits administration and payroll audits as needed
• Assist with workers compensation reporting and leave tracking
• Partner with HR and Accounting to ensure accurate employee data and payroll records
• Maintain confidentiality of employee payroll information

Preferred Qualifications for the Payroll Specialist

• 2+ years of payroll processing experience required
• Experience processing prevailing wage and certified payroll required
• Strong understanding of prevailing wage regulations and wage and hour compliance
• Knowledge of payroll laws, taxes, and federal and state payroll regulations
• Experience with payroll systems and Microsoft Excel
• High level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail
