Key Responsibilities Lead the architectural design and planning of new healthcare facilities and renovations. Collaborate with healthcare stakeholders to define functional programs and space requirements. Ensure designs adhere to all relevant healthcare building codes, standards (e.g., SANS 10400, departmental guidelines), and accessibility regulations. Develop detailed design documents, including floor plans, elevations, sections, and specifications. Coordinate with specialized consultants (e.g., medical equipment planners, MEP engineers) to integrate complex systems. Manage project teams and consultants, ensuring timely delivery of design phases. Conduct site analyses and feasibility studies for healthcare projects. Stay current with advancements in healthcare design, technology, and best practices. Present design proposals and solutions to clients and regulatory bodies. Requirements Bachelor or Master of Architecture degree. Professional registration with SACAP (Pr. Arch or Pr. Arch (T)). Minimum of 8 years of architectural experience, with at least 5 years specifically focused on healthcare projects. Demonstrated experience in designing various healthcare typologies (hospitals, clinics, labs). Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and other relevant design software. Thorough understanding of healthcare regulations, infection control principles, and patient flow dynamics. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to manage complex projects and stakeholder expectations. Experience in the Free State province is highly desirable. A portfolio showcasing successful healthcare design projects is essential.
