Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Med Surg Discipline: RN Start Date: 09/23/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Job Title: Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical (Med Surg) VMS Req ID / Source: 69776 / AHSA - Working Location: UnityPoint - Iowa Methodist Medical Center, Des Moines, Iowa Specialty: Medical Surgical / Healthcare - RN Compensation & Schedule Details Hours & Shift: 36–40 hours per week (12-hour Nights, 1900–0730) Contract Length: 13 weeks Target Start Date: October 12, 2026 (Orientation date must be 10/12; no exceptions) Pay Multipliers: Overtime/Holiday at 1.15x; Call Back at 1.5x with a 2-hour Key Facility Policies & Floating Rules Campus Floating: Travelers are required to float across all UnityPoint campuses (Iowa Methodist Medical Center, Iowa Lutheran Hospital, and Iowa Methodist). Radius Rule: No local candidates allowed; must live at least 50 miles from the facility (verified via driver’s license). Separation Policy: Past UPH employees (FTE or PRN float pool) cannot work travel within 12 months. Dress Code: Solid navy blue scrubs (tops and bottoms). Requirements & Qualifications Experience: Minimum 24 months of recent Med Surg experience in a hospital or medical center setting; Level II trauma experience required (Level I preferred). No first-time travelers (must have completed a travel contract in the past 24 months). Specific experience with general, gyn, breast, abdominal, flaps, and ENT patient care required. Licensure: Active Iowa RN license or compact/multistate license in hand at submission. Certifications: AHA or ARC BLS required. Skills & EMR: Heparin drip experience and recent EPIC EMR experience required.
