Overview Find your calling at Mercy! Operation of a Mercy patient transport van to include pick-up and delivery of patients consistent with established guidelines of practice. Responsible for the safe and proper transfer of non-ambulatory patients to and from the wheelchair, safe transport of patients via the wheelchair, ambulation assistance to and from the transport van for ambulatory patients, and proper and safe transport of both non-ambulatory and ambulatory patients via the transport van. Responsibilities Operate patient transport van for pick-up and delivery of patients. Safe transfer of non-ambulatory patients to and from the wheelchair and safe transport of patients via the wheelchair. Ambulation assistance to and from the transport van for ambulatory patients. Safe transport of both non-ambulatory and ambulatory patients via the transport van. Inspect the transport van daily and report any deficiencies to management promptly. Maintain van cleanliness and keep it sufficiently fueled. Perform related duties as assigned and provide exceptional customer service in line with Mercy’s mission, values and Service Standards. Requirements Valid Class E or equivalent driver’s license required. Must maintain a current and valid Class E or equivalent driver’s license. Ability to use UHF radio with dispatch. Preferred Education High School Diploma or GED. Preferred Experience 1+ year(s) experience driving passengers using a transport van or equivalent. Certification / Registration BLS (Basic Life Support) required. Skills & Knowledge Competent with transfer and lift techniques and utilization of a gait belt for ambulatory patients. Competently disconnect wall oxygen and transfer to portable oxygen with accurate liter setting for transport. Competent with operating the wheelchair lift and securing system. Good customer service skills. Ability to communicate clearly by use of UHF radio with dispatch. Ensure vehicle is kept clean and serviced appropriately; report all defects to manager.
