Key responsibilities include taking vital signs, documenting patient information, scheduling appointments, and managing patient flow. This role involves direct interaction with patients to ensure their comfort and address concerns, as well as collaboration with physicians, nurse practitioners, and nursing staff to facilitate efficient care.Essential Functions- Assists junior Medical Assistants with day-to-day questions and responsibilities and helps facilitate their learning by participating in onboarding training. - Shows patients to examination rooms, prepares necessary equipment for healthcare providers, and interviews patients to obtain medical information, measure their vital signs, weight, and height, and record information in the patient's medical record. - Explains treatment procedures, medications, diets, and physician instructions to patients, ordering and organizing educational materials to reinforce patient education. - Performs general office duties, such as answering phones, taking dictation, and completing insurance forms, while acting as a liaison with other departments and advocating for patients with a positive customer service approach. - Collects blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, logs them, and prepares them for testing; performs phlebotomy if competence is demonstrated. - Maintains inventory of immunizations and checks expiration dates. - Provides immunizations (as applicable) which requires certification or 3 years of experience administering a vaccine and supervision of a provider. - Responsible for improving appropriate departmental quality initiatives, such as two patient identifiers and hand hygiene.QualificationsEducation High School Diploma or Equivalent required or Associate's Degree Medical Assisting preferred Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree?
