Machine Operator 1 (1st Shift)

Overview Schedule: Monday - Friday: 6AM - 2:30PM Pay Rate: $17.60 Summary: The Machine Operator 1 reports to the Packaging Manager and is responsible for performing a variety of tasks associated with our processing and packaging process for coffee and tea. Supervisory Responsibilities None Key Responsibilities Willing to learn how to operate all packaging equipment on the production floor Mindful of and adheres to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), quality and food safety requirements Identify when quality control measures are needed and follow through to resolve issues, including but not limited to: Recognize heat problems and adjust heat as needed Set up and adjust the tape machine for different products Enter case labels in the computer and thread labels through the label maker Change the case count Setup film registration as needed and adjust for package appearance Enter pack print information into the pack printer and ensure proper alignment Thread valves through the valve applier and adjust for package appearance Perform quality checks during the run, including weights, seals, and package appearance Ensure bottles are presentable and sealed tightly Ensure labels are straight when applying to cases Ensure pallets are stacked straight Strict adherence to all company policies All other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications Ability to maintain a good attendance record per company policy Basic reasoning abilities, including: Applying common sense in carrying out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations Reading, Writing, Mathematical & Computer Functions: ability to read, write and interpret basic correspondence, daily production line sheets, operator check off sheets, machine operating instructions, safety instructions and any training materials (including safety instructions for forklifts and hand jacks) Ability to understand the data line sheet system and complete all appropriate paperwork Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations (add, subtract, multiply) using U.S. units of currency, weight, volume and distance Basic computer keyboard and barcode scan inputs Ability to successfully complete the pre-employment process Preferred Qualifications High School Diploma or GED Physical Requirements Ability to safely climb stairs and stand/walk for extended periods Ability to use hand tools and operate buttons/levers to perform quality checks, assess weights, seals, and appearance of packages Lift up to 35 lbs and carry 25 lbs Stoop, kneel, crouch, squat and other movements as needed to stack product and maintain equipment Balance and reach up to 48" and overhead up to 84" to access equipment or product Hand jack certification or willingness to train; forklift certification (Standup, Reach, sit-down) is a plus Ability to work in environments near production machinery and near forklifts or hand jacks Ability to work in environments with variable temperatures Company Profile Royal Cup, Inc. is the proven leader in sourcing, roasting, blending, and distributing high-quality coffees and fine teas since 1896.
