Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hours Days Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Current state licensure Certifications: BLS Must-Have: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing Preferred: BSN Description: The role involves working in a medical surgical unit with a patient ratio of 1:4-5. Common diagnoses include general medical patients such as sepsis, COPD, bowel obstructions, and CHF. RNs are required to titrate insulin and heparin drips. There are no tele monitor techs available on the unit. RNs will need to read strips from a centralized monitoring location. Charge nurses do not take on assignments. There is a nurse aide to patient ratio of 1 CNA for every 10-14 patients. RT equipment such as CPAP and established BiPAPs are available. The day shift runs from 0600 to 1830. Weekend and holiday work is required. Floating to other facilities may be necessary. Scrubs must be professional colors as per unit specifications. Unit-specific orientation will be provided. The hospital has a cancellation policy that allows for the cancellation of up to 4 shifts during a 13-week assignment. The charting system used is EPIC.
