The Registered Nurse (RN) focuses on safe, effective patient and family-centered care. Customer satisfaction and quality outcomes are critical responsibilities. The RN assists in maintaining a financially stable unit. Promoting personal development with a focus on evidence-based practice and education is essential. The RN supervises licensed and non-licensed staff members. Using the Kristin M. Swanson Model of Care, the RN assesses, develops, implements, and evaluates the plan of care. Focus is maintained on patient and family comfort, education, and satisfaction. The RN applies educational and professional experiences in the delivery of quality care. Mentoring and precepting of staff are also key responsibilities. Job responsibilities include: Performing assessments and reassessments according to policy or as warranted by patient condition. Demonstrating the ability to make sound independent decisions. Initiating, prioritizing, and implementing the plan of care while reviewing and revising as indicated. Collaborating with patients, families, and interdisciplinary services. Utilizing resources appropriately to support the needs of the organization, patient, and family. Monitoring and documenting responses to clinical interventions. Facilitating, coordinating, providing, and evaluating education specific to patient and family needs. Delegating tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel. Functioning as a mentor and preceptor. Encouraging and facilitating teamwork. Identifying and communicating opportunities for improvement. Participating in quality, safety, and service process improvement efforts. Implementing practice changes and complying with regulatory standards.
