Watts & Associates is working discreetly with a highly regarded Am Law 200 ranked international law firm seeking a Senior Associate or Counsel Investment Funds Attorney to join its Austin Texas office on an in office basis.
This is a 100 percent transactional opportunity focused on private fund formation and sponsor and investor side matters across a range of alternative investment strategies.
The platform offers sophisticated work within a well established funds practice, with a collaborative team environment and direct access to experienced partners and repeat institutional clients.
The Opportunity
You will advise sponsors on fund structuring, fundraising, investor negotiations, governance, and ongoing fund operations, and you will also support limited partners on primary investments into private equity and other private investment vehicles. The role includes meaningful regulatory and compliance work, including matters involving the Investment Company Act of 1940.
Ideal Candidate Profile
The firm is seeking a Senior Associate or Counsel Investment Funds Attorney with:
- More than 6 years of relevant investment funds experience, including private fund formation
- Experience advising sponsors and investors across alternative investments including private equity, credit, energy and infrastructure, real estate, hedge funds, and bespoke structures
- General experience with Investment Company Act of 1940 matters, with experience advising on 40 Act fund structures viewed favorably
- Ability to run key workstreams across structuring, fundraising, investor negotiations, governance, and regulatory compliance
- Admission to the Texas Bar, or ability to obtain Texas admission promptly
