Maintenance Mechanic

Maintenance MechanicPrintpack, a leading manufacturer of flexible packaging, is seeking a candidate to fill the position of Maintenance Mechanic in their Converting Plant in Grand Prairie, Tx. The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining plant equipment to ensure optimal manufacturing operations and minimize equipment downtime. This position requires extensive knowledge of mechanical systems, including gear boxes, couplings, bearings, shop equipment, welding, fabrication, compressors, chillers, blowers, conveyor systems, and piping configurations, while providing technical support to the maintenance team. Usually, direction comes from the Maintenance Manager/Supervisors. Direction can also come from Shift Supervisors as determined by production loss through equipment that is down. This position is a day shift from 7am - 3pm (M-F).Key Responsibilities:Perform proactive maintenance and repairs on manufacturing equipment to minimize downtime and maintain production efficiencyExecute troubleshooting of mechanical systems to identify root causes and implement effective repair solutionsUse shop equipment, such as welder, mill, lathe, etc, to manufacture, fabricate or repair mechanical components and partsComplete scheduled preventive maintenance tasks according to established schedules and work ordersDocument all maintenance activities, parts usage, and repairs through computer-based maintenance softwareRead and interpret mechanical blueprints for equipment tear-down, rebuilding, and component replacementCoordinate maintenance activities with shift leadership and provide technical recommendationsExecute rigging and lifting operations of heavy components while following safety protocolsMaintain an inventory & acquisition of spare partsSupport electricians and electronic technicians in cross-functional maintenance activitiesEducation & Experience:3 - 4 years of Industrial maintenance mechanic experienceMinimum of 3 years of Industrial plant experienceExperience with preventive maintenance programsTechnical training or apprenticeship in machining preferredRequired Experience:Strong mechanical troubleshooting abilitiesBlueprint reading proficiencyBasic fabrication and machining skillsPrevious welding experience (MIG, TIG and Stick)Experience with pneumatic, electrical, hand-held power and precision tools or instrumentsComputer literacy for maintenance softwareAbility to obtain Forklift and high-lift certificationStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsStrong written and verbal communication skillsStrong organizational and time management abilitiesAbility to prioritize and manage multiple tasksDetail-oriented with strong documentation skillsStrong Decision MakingAdditional Requirements:Must be 18 years of ageDrug screening requiredBackground check requiredKnowledge, Skills & Abilities:Expert knowledge of machining principles and practicesUnderstanding of mechanical systems and componentsPreventive maintenance proceduresSafety protocols and regulationsEquipment specificationsTool and machinery operationHydraulic and pneumatic systemsProblem analysis and troubleshootingTime managementDocumentation and reportingComprehensive understanding of LOTO proceduresMathematical and measurement skillsStrong problem-solving abilitiesMaintain accuracy and attention to detailCommunicate effectively with all levels of personnelPhysical Demands:The associate will be exposed to the manufacturing environment where hazards and requirements may include but are not limited to:Must be able to lift and handle objects weighing up to 50 poundsCapacity to stand and walk for extended periodsAbility to climb, kneel, bend, stoop, reach and squatManual dexterity for tool operationVisual acuity for detail workUse of ladders and other equipmentMust be able to wear ARC Flash Apparel/ EquipmentMust be able to work at heights and in small / confined spacesPosition may also require crawling under platformsAbility to wear respiratory protection as neededAbility to wear required PPE (hearing protection, steel-toe shoes, safety glasses)Work Conditions:The majority of tasks will be performed in a manufacturing setting with exposure to:Noise levels above 85 dBOperation of complex machineryContact with solvents, fumes and inksVariable temperaturesMay be required to work flexible shiftsMay require nights, weekends, and holidaysAn additional $2.50/hr premium for NIGHT Shift only between the hours of 7pm-7am.
