Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)- Full- Time Special Needs Unit | Aurora Behavioral Health | Tempe, Arizona Are you passionate about helping children and adolescents with autism and developmental disabilities thrive? Aurora Behavioral Health System in Tempe is looking for a compassionate, patient, and motivated Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) to join our Special Needs Unit (SNU), serving children and adolescents ages 8–17 with autism and other developmental and intellectual disabilities. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young patients during some of their most challenging moments. Our RBTs work directly with patients while collaborating with BHTs, nurses, therapists, BCBAs, and other members of the treatment team to provide individualized, safe, and therapeutic care. What You’ll Do Provide direct behavioral support to children and adolescents ages 8–17. Assist in implementing individualized behavioral intervention and treatment plans under the supervision of a BCBA. Use ABA principles and behavior skills training to support patient development and treatment goals. Teach and reinforce appropriate communication, social, coping, and daily living skills. Observe and document patient behaviors, progress, strengths, and treatment needs. Provide meaningful observations and feedback to the treatment team. Assist BHTs with implementing behavioral interventions through modeling, coaching, and positive feedback. Help patients participate in structured therapeutic activities and programming. Assist patients with activities of daily living when appropriate to their treatment plan and developmental level. Help maintain a safe, structured, supportive, and therapeutic environment. Provide appropriate patient observation and safety support as needed. Participate in treatment planning and provide input regarding patient progress and discharge needs. Maintain accurate and timely patient and program documentation. Participate in professional development and ongoing clinical training. Follow all patient safety, confidentiality, infection-control, and organizational policies. Passionate about autism, ABA, behavioral health, or developmental disabilities. Able to build trust and positive relationships with young patients. Calm and professional in stressful or unpredictable situations. A strong communicator who works well as part of a multidisciplinary team. Comfortable receiving feedback and learning new behavioral interventions. Creative and engaging when helping patients participate in activities and develop new skills. Committed to treating every patient with dignity, respect, and compassion. You're able to work 12-hour shifts and a rotation of every other weekend. (Required) Minimum Qualifications High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required. Advanced degree preferred. Two years of experience working with individuals with developmental and/or intellectual disabilities preferred/required per position requirements. Current Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification through the BACB Current CPR and First Aid certification or ability to obtain within the required timeframe. Current TB clearance/testing as required. Must be 21 years of age or older.
