Senior Acquisition Systems Engineer

OverviewLMI is seeking a Senior Acquisition Systems Engineer to support a federal program management office (PMO) charged with planning, acquiring, and managing the deployment and operation of technology and capabilities to keep our borders safe. Headquartered in Tysons, Virginia, LMI is committed to delivering impactful results that strengthen missions and drive lasting value.ResponsibilitiesThe candidate will work with engineers and subject matter experts to support the client’s Program Management Office (PMO), which is responsible for developing Programs of Record (PoRs) and acquiring and deploying technologies and systems to protect the nation’s borders.From program planning and market research to trade studies, requirements definition, engineering analysis, decision support, and program execution assistance, the candidate will apply sound systems engineering principles, ensure DHS and CBP directives, policies, and processes are followed, and support achievement of the client’s objectives.Specific responsibilities may include:Provide full lifecycle systems engineering support to programs and projects, guiding programs through the acquisition lifecycle from Program of Record establishment to contract award, deployment, operation, and sustainment.Lead or support the development of engineering and project plans, including but not limited to:Systems Engineering Life Cycle (SELC) Tailoring PlanSystems Engineering Plan (SEP)Integrated Master Schedule (IMS)Test and Evaluation Master Plan (TEMP)Briefings and artifacts in support of SELC technical review gatesIntegrated Product Team (IPT) and working group chartersLead or support the development of RFP packages, including Statements of Objectives (SOOs), Performance Work Statements or Program Work Statements (PWSs), Contract Data Requirements Lists (CDRLs), Data Item Descriptions (DIDs), Interface Control Documents (ICDs), Concepts of Operations (CONOPS), and Functional Requirements Documents (FRDs).Evaluate contractor submittals, including RFI responses, proposals, white papers, technology demonstration plans, and contract deliverables.Support the planning, execution, data collection, evaluation, and assessment of system acceptance tests, technical demonstrations, and other technology or systems evaluation efforts.Perform technology market research, trade studies, requirements analysis, and other engineering investigations, and develop white papers and decision papers as required.Coordinate and track project activities and status, provide status reporting, and make recommendations to the customer.QualificationsSENIOR LEVEL: 10+ years of relevant experience and a STEM BS degree or 7 years relevant experience and a MS degree in systems engineering.MID LEVEL: 3-10 years’ relevant experience and a STEM BS degree Experience in providing full life cycle systems engineering support to large, complex programsFamiliar with DHS or DoD Acquisition Lifecycle Framework (ALF)Familiar with DHS Systems Engineering Life Cycle (SELC) frameworkExperienced in requirements analysisExperience in developing engineering plans, trade studies, CONOPS documents, and decision papersKnowledge of a broad spectrum of technical fields and engineering disciplinesStrong problem-solving skills, organizational skills, communication skills, and leadership skillsSelf-motivated, proactive, independent performer who can perform well in a collaborative, team environmentAbility to travel out of state on a monthly basis.All position require eligibility to acquire CBP BI, for which you must be a U.S Citizen.
