Truck Loader

About the Role:

The Truck Loader plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient and safe loading of trucks within our logistics and distribution operations. This position is responsible for organizing, loading, and securing freight to maximize space utilization while maintaining the integrity of the cargo. The role requires close collaboration with warehouse teams and drivers to meet tight delivery schedules and maintain high standards of safety and accuracy. The Truck Loader will also be instrumental in conducting inspections of cargo and equipment to prevent damage and ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. Ultimately, this position contributes directly to the smooth flow of goods from warehouse to customer, supporting overall supply chain effectiveness.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to lift heavy objects up to 50 pounds repeatedly throughout the shift.
• Valid forklift operator certification or willingness to obtain certification upon hire.
• Basic understanding of warehouse safety protocols and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience in truck loading or warehouse operations.
• Familiarity with DOT regulations and commercial vehicle loading standards.
• Experience operating various material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
• Strong communication skills to coordinate effectively with team members and drivers.

Responsibilities:

• Load and unload trucks efficiently and safely, ensuring proper placement and securement of all cargo.
• Inspect freight for damage and report any discrepancies or issues to supervisors promptly.
• Collaborate with warehouse staff and drivers to coordinate loading schedules and optimize delivery routes.
• Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks in compliance with safety standards.
• Maintain a clean and organized loading area to promote safety and operational efficiency.
• Adhere to all company policies, safety regulations, and DOT guidelines during loading operations.
• Document loading activities accurately, including verifying shipment contents and completing necessary paperwork.

Skills:

The required skills such as physical stamina and forklift operation are essential for handling the physical demands of loading and unloading trucks safely and efficiently. Attention to detail is critical for inspecting freight and ensuring that cargo is loaded securely to prevent damage during transit. Communication skills enable the Truck Loader to coordinate effectively with warehouse personnel and drivers, ensuring smooth operations and timely deliveries. Preferred skills like familiarity with DOT regulations and experience with various material handling equipment enhance the ability to comply with safety standards and optimize loading processes.
