Quality Inspector

Manthei Wood Products is seeking detail-oriented Quality Inspectors / Hardwood Veneer Panel Graders to join our production team. This role plays a key part in evaluating and grading veneer sheets and panels based on appearance, grain characteristics, and overall quality to ensure materials meet company and customer standards. The ideal candidate has strong visual inspection skills, consistency in judgment, and an appreciation for wood products in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Full-time positions are available on both 1st shift (5:00 am - 3:00 pm) and 2nd shift (3:00 pm - 1:00 am), Monday - Thursday. Overtime opportunities may be available based on production needs.

What You'll Do

• Inspect hardwood veneer sheets and panels for grain pattern, color variation, knots, splits, and other defects
• Grade materials according to established company and industry standards
• Sort and categorize veneer by quality and value
• Ensure consistency and accuracy in grading decisions
• Communicate quality concerns to production and leadership teams
• Maintain a clean and organized work area
• Demonstrate attendance as a necessary job function
• Follow all company safety procedures and guidelines
• Learn and perform other production-related duties as needed

What We're Looking For

• Strong attention to detail and visual accuracy
• Ability to make consistent, objective quality assessments
• Ability to stand for extended periods and handle materials
• Basic math and counting skills
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Previous quality inspection or grading experience preferred but not required
• Experience in wood products, lumber, veneer, or manufacturing environments preferred but not required

Work Environment:

• Manufacturing and production setting
• Exposure to wood dust, noise, and varying temperatures
• Physical activity including standing, lifting, and material handling
