Controller

Kforce's client in Charleston, SC is seeking a hands-on Controller to oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, audit preparation, and internal controls for a multi-location organization. This role will manage a small accounting team, support month-end close, budgeting, and variance analysis, while ensuring accurate financial reporting and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate is a strong accounting leader who can work independently, drive results, and support future process and system improvements. Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee daily accounting operations, including AP, AR, cash management, and general ledger activities
• Manage and mentor a small accounting team
• Lead month-end and year-end close processes
• Prepare financial statements, P&L reporting, budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis
• Support audit preparation and coordinate with external auditors
• Maintain internal controls, reconciliations, and cutoff procedures
• Monitor inventory accounting and project-based accounting activities
• Analyze cost versus revenue performance and provide recommendations to leadership
• Support multi-location accounting operations and reporting
• Assist with ERP/system implementations and process improvements
• Partner with leadership to support business and financial initiatives
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
• Controller, Accounting Manager, or Senior Accounting leadership experience
• Multi-location accounting experience
• Audit and audit preparation experience
• Experience managing and developing accounting teams
• Strong general ledger, financial reporting, and reconciliation experience
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

• Food service, hospitality, distribution, or related industry experience
• Rental business experience
