Please check out the residency definition to determine if you qualify.What you will be doing: This Eligibility Technician 2 position joins the Division's Virtual Call Center (VCC) team under the Field Services group. Field Services serves as the frontline workers whose goal is to help Alaskan families statewide reach higher levels of independence and self-sufficiency.As an Eligibility Technician 2 in this position, you will:Determine eligibility for a range of state and federal assistance programs, such as Medicaid, SNAP, Heating Assistance, Cash Assistance, and more.Interview applicants, review their financial and personal information, and apply program rules to determine their eligibility.Initiate authorization of benefits for services and other supports.Work across multiple computer interfaces.Our organization, mission, and culture: The Division of Public Assistance is committed to promoting self-sufficiency and providing basic living expenses to Alaskans in need. This position joins a statewide eligibility team that supports Alaskans throughout our great state. Recovers quickly from setbacks.Self-Management: Sets well-defined and realistic personal goals; displays a high level of initiative, effort, and commitment towards completing assignments promptly; works with minimal supervision; is motivated to achieve.Oral Communication: Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.Minimum Qualifications: One year of entry level experience as an Eligibility Technician 1 with the State of Alaska; OR One year performing similar work that developed knowledge and skills in applying program requirements and working with client customers in stressful situations. Substitution: Post-secondary education in such fields as sociology, social work, psychology, counseling, human services, vocational rehabilitation, developmental disabilities, behavioral sciences, business, public administration, or accounting may substitute for the required experience (undergraduate credits: 2.67 semester/4 quarter hours = 1 month).Additional Required Information: At the time of the interview, please provide the following:Three (3) professional references, whom we may contact by phone, are required.
