Hourly pay range: $35.432637 - $44.991225. Salary offers will be made within the posted pay range and will be based on candidate's experience (paid or unpaid) that is directly relevant to the position.

If you answered "yes" to the questions above, we want you to join our team as a Juvenile Counselor 2 at the Clackamas County Juvenile Department. As a Juvenile Counselor 2, you will play a critical role in providing case management and supervision services for youth referred for criminal charges, use of alcohol and/or other illegal drugs which may include pre-adjudicated or post-disposition youth placed on probation. Responsibilities for this position will include completing/updating risk and need assessments to guide case planning recommendations, and/or ongoing case management and supervision of youth placed on probation by the Court. This position is responsible for presenting before the Court: status updates to the case, recommendations for supervision, available resources, placement options, case closure, and any ongoing significant events regarding the case. You will develop case plans designed to reduce criminal activity and further escalation into the juvenile justice system through developmentally appropriate interventions. You will also develop and supervise safety plans and monitor treatment progress. Another major component of this position is to engage participants and their families in services that will empower them to make better choices, encourage healthy family functioning, reduce youth substance use and delinquent behavior and promote public safety.

Required minimum qualifications/transferable skills:
- A minimum of two (2) years of case management experience working with at-risk youth
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience partnering with families to address the at-risk behaviors of their youth.
- A minimum of two (2) years conducting risk and needs assessment & initiating appropriate levels of intervention and services.
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience developing case plans, applying evidence based practices, case management principles, and/or managing behavior of youth in the community.
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience maintaining discipline and orderly conduct among youth
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of adolescent development
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with emotional or upset individuals
- Strong interpersonal skills that translate into all of the following:
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and partnerships both internally and externally
- Ability to handle a wide range of situations and circumstances effectively, positively, and professionally and maintain composure in difficult, stressful and quickly emerging situations
- Ability to work well independently, as well as having a collaborative, team-oriented approach to work
- Exercising tact, good judgment and diplomacy, especially while working with people who are experiencing extreme emotions
- Strong active/reflective listening skills
- Develop supportive and constructive relationships with youth and families
