Chemistry Lead Location: 07 Bishop, CA, US Salary Range: $53.87 to $78.95 hourly Job Summary The Clinical Chemistry Lead is a Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) responsible for supervising the Chemistry section of the NIH clinical laboratory. The role includes monitoring equipment functionality, maintenance, quality control, record keeping, troubleshooting, setting technical workflows, training staff, and competency assessment. The Lead ensures compliance with The Joint Commission and state and federal regulations. The position is a professional state‑licensed role that requires the highest level of patient confidentiality. Job Relationships Directly reports to the Laboratory Services Manager. Collaborates closely with all laboratory staff, providing instruction when required. Engages with district departments, leadership, internal and external customers. Occupational Hazards Works in a general hospital setting and may be exposed to blood, body fluids, tissues, and patients in varying stages of infectious states. Minimum Qualifications Experience: Minimum 3 years of high‑complexity testing experience in the Chemistry specialty. Minimum 1 year of high‑complexity testing experience in Hematology, Coagulation, Serology, Transfusion Services/Blood Bank, and Microbiology (generalist responsibilities). Education: Bachelor’s degree in a chemical, physical, or biological science or medical technology that meets CLIA requirements for high‑complexity testing. Certification: Valid California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) Generalist License. Schedule: 06:00‑16:30 day shift, rotates weekends/holidays, with night shift coverage.
