MES Systems Administrator for Fremont R&D Center

The group you’ll be a part ofGlobal Products Group/Global Product Operations/Global Lab AutomationThe impact you’ll makeLam is seeking a MES Systems Administrator who can reinforce our MES delivery capabilities across high‑tech Centre of Excellence (CoE) R&D Lab environments. You will support the deployment and operation of mission‑critical MES installations, ensuring they run securely, efficiently and at scale. In this role, you'll bridge complex technical deployments with the performance and reliability our customers expect, enabling fully digital and stable production environments. You will work closely with our Deployment Support and Customer teams to install, configure, troubleshoot and optimize MES setups, ensuring smooth transitions into operation and long‑term stability.What you’ll doLead deployments of MES and application environmentsExecute remote installations of MES environments and applicationsValidate pre‑conditions, dependencies, and compatibility before deploymentManage environment governance and accessOptimize and scale MES environmentsMonitor resource consumption (CPU, memory, storage, cluster health)Identify scaling needs and perform capacity adjustmentsGuarantee highly stable, performant and cost‑efficient environmentsTroubleshoot complex deployment issuesInvestigate problems using logs, containers, pods, events, and system tracesContinous improvementsAdvise on best practices for infrastructure, virtualization, container platforms, and network setupsClarify responsibilities between internal teams, integrators, and customers to reduce risks and deployment delaysDocument lessons learned and corrective/preventive actionsContribute to internal knowledge bases, troubleshooting playbooks, and evolving best practicesHelp improve automation, observability, and deployment toolingWho we’re looking forBachelor's degree in Computer Science or relevant field (or equivalent experience)More than 10 years of experience in systems administrationsStrong experience with Docker and Kubernetes/OpenShift: containerized deployments, pod troubleshooting, logs, events, networking, health checksSolid background in Linux (networking, volumes, system services, journaling)Hands‑on experience with VMware or Hyper‑V (VM provisioning, configuration, snapshots)Strong problem‑solving and investigative skills, with a methodical, log‑oriented approachAbility to troubleshoot beyond standard procedures, going deep when neededStrong organization, time‑management, and prioritization skillsHigh attention to detail, ownership, and accountabilityExcellent communication skills and ability to work cross‑functionallyInitiative and a drive for continuous improvement and best practices adoptionExcellent written and spoken English communication skillsPreferred qualificationsExperience with Kafka or ClickHouse in distributed deploymentsFamiliarity with the Manufacturing / MES / industrial domain (Semiconductor, Electronics, Medical Devices, Industrial Equipment)Experience with SQL Server, including backup/restore, high availability, and performance considerationsKnowledge of the ITIL framework, particularly related to change, incident, and problem managementExposure to data platforms for operational reporting, analytics, dashboards, or log aggregationExperience working with reverse proxies, TLS certificates, and secure network architecturesUnderstanding of DevOps‑adjacent tools, such as CI/CD pipelines, monitoring and observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK), or scripting for automation (PowerShell, Bash)Our commitmentWe believe it is important for every person to feel valued, included, and empowered to achieve their full potential. Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. ‘On-site Flex’ you’ll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. ‘Virtual Flex’ you’ll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.SalaryCA San Francisco Bay Area Salary Range for this position: $72,000.00 - $170,000.00.The above salary range for this position is relevant to applicants that reside or work onsite in the California, San Francisco Bay Area only. Salary offers will depend on factors that include the location you work from, your level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience and comparison to other employees already in this role.
