Registered Nurse

This unit specializes in medical and surgical care. Common diagnoses include pneumonia, COPD, acute kidney injury, and occasional surgical patients. Registered Nurses are responsible for basic patient care and monitoring. Heparin and lasix drips are non-titrated. Charge nurses are available but may take assignments if needed. Patient care techs will assist with up to 12 patients per nurse. Patients may require respiratory support, including bipap and stable tracheostomy care. A dedicated monitor tech will handle telemetry; travelers do not need to read telemetry strips. Weekend shifts are required every other week. Holidays require working 2 out of 3 holidays. Navy blue scrubs are the required uniform color. This position includes a low census on-call requirement. Nurse patient ratios ensure adequate support for staff and patients.
