Data Engineering & AI Solutions Intern Valkyrie Enterprises is seeking a Data Engineering & AI Solutions Intern in Virginia Beach, VA to support the development of data engineering, analytics, and AI‑driven solutions that enhance business operations and workforce insights. This opportunity is hybrid/remote. This role provides hands‑on experience designing data pipelines, integrating enterprise systems, building analytics dashboards, and supporting emerging AI initiatives. The ideal candidate is passionate about technology, data, automation, and solving complex business problems through innovative solutions. Job Description Assist in the design, development, and maintenance of ETL/ELT data pipelines. Develop Python‑based applications and automation tools. Build and optimize Snowflake databases, data models, and workflows. Integrate data from internal and external systems using REST APIs. Support document processing and extraction workflows involving PDF and DOCX files. Assist with workforce analytics, KPI development, and reporting automation initiatives. Develop dashboards and visualizations using Power BI, Streamlit, or similar platforms. Support AI and NLP projects, including resume parsing, entity extraction, semantic matching, and text analysis. Participate in data quality validation, troubleshooting, and process improvement efforts. Collaborate with IT, HR, and business stakeholders to develop scalable technology solutions. Maintain code repositories and documentation using Git version control. Qualifications Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field. Experience with Python programming and software development fundamentals. Basic knowledge of SQL and relational database concepts. Understanding of data engineering principles, data structures, and system integration. Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment. Desired Qualifications Data engineering: Snowflake experience, Snowflake SQL development, data modeling and schema design, Snowflake stages, tasks and streams, stored procedures, semi‑structured data handling (JSON/VARIANT), secure data access concepts, Snowpark experience, data ingestion and transformation, ETL/ELT pipeline development, data normalization and validation, pipeline orchestration, logging and monitoring. AI/NLP: Resume parsing, entity extraction, semantic matching, text embeddings, prompt engineering fundamentals. Analytics: Workforce analytics, KPI development, dashboard creation using Power BI, Streamlit, or similar tools, automated reporting solutions.
