Laboratory Operations Lead

Lead daily laboratory operations for a hospital lab, ensuring efficient workflow and high-quality patient testing. Oversee staff scheduling, quality control, and regulatory compliance while mentoring and developing laboratory professionals. Drive continuous improvement and support the department's operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise daily operations of assigned lab sections, ensuring efficient workflow and high-quality patient testing.
• Schedule staff, assign tasks, and oversee staffing needs.
• Perform CLS duties as needed while maintaining regulatory compliance.
• Supervise and perform lab testing, quality control, and documentation.
• Organize daily operations to maximize efficiency and productivity.
• Monitor turnaround times and implement process improvements.
• Train, mentor, evaluate, and support personnel through coaching and performance appraisals.
• Assist with employee counseling and disciplinary actions.
• Maintain and update lab policies and procedures in compliance with standards.
• Oversee inventory management and supply ordering.
• Troubleshoot instrumentation and coordinate preventive maintenance.
• Assist with implementation of new testing methodologies and technologies.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Health Sciences, Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or equivalent.
• Current California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) license.
• Minimum five years of hospital laboratory experience in general testing, including quality control and methodologies.
• Minimum three years of leadership experience in Coordinator, Lead, Supervisor, or Manager role.
• Strong knowledge of laboratory regulations, accreditation standards, and quality management practices.
• Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Skills:

• Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Improvement (QI) experience.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) for Healthcare Providers certification.
