Job Opportunity – Cardiac Surgery Physician (Locum Tenens) – Kentucky

Start Date: December 2024 / January 2025 (specific dates available upon application)

Schedule: 24-hour shifts, 7:00 AM to 7:00 AM; 4-7 shifts per month; includes call and weekend coverage

Highlights:

• Hospital-based practice with 1-2 cardiac surgical cases per day on average
• Dedicated cardiac operating room plus hybrid OR for structural heart procedures
• EPIC EMR system with experienced support staff including first assist with endoscopic vein harvest experience
• Focused anesthesia team dedicated to cardiothoracic surgery with collaborative ICU support
• Annual ER volume of approximately 30,000 visits serving adult and geriatric patient populations
• Heavy cardiac focus required; thoracic experience preferred but not required

Requirements:

• Board Certified in Cardiac Surgery
• Active BLS certification
• Kentucky medical license preferred (willing to assist candidates in obtaining licensure)
• Expertise in adult cardiac surgery including CABG with arterial revascularization, heart valve repair/replacement, and redo cases
• Proficiency in general thoracic procedures including tube thoracostomy, tracheostomy, bronchoscopy, VATS, and pericardial window
• Experience with Impella support (insertion, removal, and bailout procedures) required
• Structural heart procedure support experience in hybrid OR/cath lab settings required
• ICU management experience with high-risk cardiac cases
• Clean background check required
