Lighting and Cinematography Consultant for AI Model Evaluation

A unique opportunity awaits in a leading AI lab''s GenAI team, where your expertise in lighting and cinematography will play a pivotal role in shaping the evaluation of advanced AI models. This position allows you to influence how lighting is perceived and judged in AI-generated scenes, ensuring that the emotional and physical aspects of illumination are accurately represented. Key Responsibilities
- Establish standards: Define the criteria for effective scene lighting and illumination, focusing on emotional resonance and physical fidelity, while identifying gaps in current evaluation methods.
- Curate benchmarks: Identify exemplary instances of both straightforward and challenging lighting to create meaningful benchmarks for evaluation.
- Identify key losses: Pinpoint critical elements that must be accurately evaluated.
- Shape the evaluation pool: Define the profile and rubric for human reviewers assessing model outputs.
- 7 to 10 years of professional experience in the film, visual effects (VFX), or video game industry.
- A proven track record on 2 or more professional films or games.
- Specialization in at least one of the following: Lighting Technical Director (TD), Lighting, 3D Lighting, Look Development Artist, Director of Photography (DP), or Cinematographer.
- A meticulous eye for scene lighting with a solid understanding of light physics, cinematic illumination, and color science.
- Ability to translate complex visual details into clear, precise descriptive language.
- Willingness to come on-site in Playa Vista (Los Angeles), CA or New York, NY for in-person working sessions once or twice a month.
This is a part-time W-2 employment position with Cincinnatus LLC, providing the opportunity to work within a leading AI Lab as part of their extended workforce.
CompensationHourly compensation ranges from $60 to $90.
EligibilityApplicants must be able to work on-site in Playa Vista, CA or New York, NY as required. This role is structured as a part-time position, not freelance or project-based.
