IT Project Manager

Job Description: This role operates within the IT controls and Projects team, a part of Clients Information Technology (GC TECH) and will play a strategic part in supporting our cloud/Infrastructure transformation as part of GCs modernization initiatives. As an IT Project Manager, you will be responsible for planning, executing, and delivering technology projects within our organization, with a particular focus on Infrastructure / cloud migration and transition. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project completion and alignment with business objectives. The ideal candidate should possess excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills, along with a strong understanding of IT project management methodologies and cloud technologies. Responsibilities Lead and manage IT projects related to IT Infrastructure, cloud transition and migration, ensuring successful implementation and adoption of cloud technologies. Define project scope, goals, and deliverables for cloud migration initiatives, and create comprehensive project plans, including resource allocation and scheduling. Facilitate project kick-off meetings, ensuring all team members are aware of their roles and responsibilities in the cloud transition process. Collaborate with IT teams, Internal service providers, and cloud architecture teams to develop migration strategies, evaluate cloud solutions, and ensure seamless integration of cloud technologies. Monitor project progress, identify risks specific to cloud migration, and implement effective mitigation strategies to keep projects on track. Conduct regular status meetings with team members and stakeholders to provide updates on Infrastructure/Cloud transition projects, address concerns, and resolve issues. Manage project budgets for cloud migration initiatives, track expenses, and provide accurate financial reporting to relevant stakeholders. Maintain a high level of quality in cloud transition deliverables, adhering to industry best practices and security standards. Evaluate cloud migration outcomes against predefined success criteria and conduct post-project reviews to identify areas for improvement. Foster a positive team environment, promoting collaboration, innovation, and professional development among team members involved in cloud projects. Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, translating technical information related to cloud technologies into clear and understandable language. Stay up to date with industry trends and advancements in cloud computing and IT project management to bring innovative ideas and best practices to the organization. Qualifications/experience Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Proven experience (5 years) in IT project management, with a focus on Infrastructure/cloud transition and migration projects. Strong knowledge of project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall) and tools (e.g., JIRA, Microsoft Project). Demonstrated experience in planning and executing successful cloud migration projects, preferably across multiple cloud platforms (Specifically AWS and Azure). Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and lead cross-functional teams during cloud transition initiatives. Exceptional communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal. Solid understanding of IT infrastructure, software development lifecycle, and system integration processes, with a specific focus on cloud technologies. PMP/Prince2 or other project management certifications are essential. Analytical mind-set with the ability to solve problems and make data-driven decisions related to Infrastructure project/cloud migration challenges. Experience in risk management and change management practices, particularly in the context of cloud adoption. Advantageous Azure Certification AZ900 Contract Position: 12-month contract, with the possibility of conversion to a permanent position. This role is onsite and not available for remote work. Hourly Rate: $65 to $75 per hour Note: The stated hourly rate reflects the current pay scale for this position at Thriving Recruiter.
